I agree with a lot of things you said about fanfiction but don't you think something being well-written can make it profound?
can phrasing in and of itself be profound? i don’t think it can and if a piece of fanfiction feels profound it seems like it’s due to the source material and the skill of the fanfic writer making it better but without the source material and the foundation it’s already set I don’t think it would have that same effect. ofc there are probably some fanfics that are so far removed from the source material that they become their own thing and that’s another story but for most fanfics..
